Two Brothers... One Took the Cross... The Other Took the Gun.
Israel
In May 1976, Richard Boone in Israel told interviewer Cleveland Amory: "I'm starring in the worst picture ever made. The producer is an Israeli and the director is Italian, and they don't speak. Fortunately it doesn't matter, because the director is deaf in both ears." This is referred to in the biography 'Richard Boone: A Knight without Armor in a Savage Land' (2000) by David Rothel.
The second western star teaming of veteran actor Lee Van Cleef and singer and teen idol Leif Garrett.
Star Richard Boone was dubbed by another actor. He already had health problems, and after a drunken argument he walked off the set, and left the location before he had recorded all his dialog.
This movie is perhaps the most famous western to have been filmed in the country of Israel.
The final western picture of actor Lee Van Cleef. It was actually released before Vengeance (1976) which had been filmed earlier.
Continuity
In the opening scene, when the Clayton gang rides into Crane City to rob the bank, there's a barn to the right of the bank with the sign 'JC McCormick, Blacksmithing, Wagon Repairing' with a large wagon wheel in the center. Later in the movie, when Lewis describes his past to young Johnny, there's a flashback scene to Abilene. Outside the Abilene Gambling Hall, right across the street, there's a barn with the same sign!
When Johnny plays horseshoes he leaves his throw short. He walks up to the shoe and kicks it onto the stake. There is a second shoe to the left and short of the stake. Father John arrives and admonishes Johnny for cheating and throws a shoe himself getting a ringer. However, the other two shoes are no longer in the picture.
Revealing mistakes
During the final showdown, Lewis shoots Sam Clayton's gun out of hand, then shoots it several more times while it is in the air. However, when Clayton's gun lands on the ground, it is undamaged.
Crew or equipment visible
When Johnny pushes the man from the bell tower, it is an obvious dummy falling to its doom.
