Mike McCoy is the lead singer for a band combo and and a part-time race-car driver trying to get by, when he is pursued by a trio of very different women who want his hand in marriage. The first is Les, the female drummer of his band; the second is Cynthia, a spoiled Daddy's-girl heiress; and the third is Diana, a writer of books on men.

One of the very few films that show a Cheetah sports car being raced. Bill Thomas' Cheetah was an extremely rare sports car that was designed to compete against Carroll Shelby's Cobra. Additionally, the "Fox Five" was actually a McLaren Elva. Being able to watch these cars in action is almost worth the price of admission.
The pool scene location in "Spinout" uses the same pool location that was used in "Jailhouse Rock" (when Elvis sings "You're So Square" near the end of the film).
This is the sixth film collaboration between Elvis Presley and director Norman Taurog.
President Lyndon B. Johnson's daughter visited the set of the film to meet Elvis Presley.
Carl Betz and Shelley Fabares also played father and daughter on The Donna Reed Show (1958).
Continuity
When Mike McCoy (Elvis Presley) crashes his white AC Cobra into the water it suddenly changes into a Mistral-bodied Austin-Healey.
At the beginning of the song "Adam And Evil", a bass guitar on a stand is seen on stage. When the song ends, the bass is no longer there.
