Petula Clark was originally offered the role of Judy Hudson.
This was one of three Elvis movies released in 1966 (the other two were Frankie and Johnny (1966) and Spinout (1966)). The combined grosses of all three won Elvis the tenth spot on the Quigley Top Ten Money-Making Stars poll for 1966, his final appearance among the top ten.

Continuity
When Elvis is piloting the helicopter, interior shots show the woman and the dogs blocking his view and hampering the flight. In the same scene with the helicopter coming toward the camera, it's easy to see the pilot is alone.
Miscellaneous
At 53 minutes, during the House of Sand performance Elvis bumps into one of the dancers when he turns around.
Errors in geography
When Rick, Lani, and Jan fly the helicopter over Waimea Canyon on Kauai and land on a beach to swim, the beach is actually on O'ahu not Kauai. The hat shaped island near the beach is Mokoli'i near Kaneohe Bay on O'ahu.
