Mutiny (1952)
Early in the War of 1812, Captain James Marshall (Mark Stevens) is commissioned to run the British blockade and fetch an unofficial war loan from France. As first mate, Marshall recruits Ben Waldridge (Patric Knowles), a cashiered former British Navy Captain. Waldridge brings his former gun crew, who begin plotting mutiny as soon as they learn there'll be gold on-board. The gold duly arrives, and with it, Waldridge's former sweetheart Leslie (Dame Angela Lansbury), who's fond of a bit of gold too. Which side is Waldridge really on?

The King brothers broke the Hollywood ban against hiring any of the ten men who, in 1947, refused to answer the questions of a Congressional committee on their Communist affiliations, by hiring Edward Dmytryk to direct. After he had served a prison sentence for contempt, he testified fully on his former Communist affiliations.
Despite this movie being touted as an "epic", it is only one hour and seventeen minutes long.

Mark Stevens would guest star on Obituary for a Dead Anchor (1986), which series starred his ''Mutiny'' leading lady Angela Lansbury.
Factual errors
During the early discussion on how to get the gold to America, the question is asked why the the French can't bring it, and somebody says that Britain and France are not at war. He clearly hadn't heard of the Peninsula War then raging in Spain.
Anachronisms
During the War of 1812, in 1814 precisely, Silas Halsey lost his life whilst using a submarine in an unsuccessful attack on a British warship stationed in New London harbor. This is the only recorded use of one during that conflict.
