King Creole (1958)
Having flunked graduation for a second time and needing cash to support his crabby (and thus unemployed) father, Danny Fisher takes a job as a singer in the King Creole nightclub - about the only joint around not run by smarmy crook Maxie Fields who wants him for his own place. He gets on pretty well with Fields' floozy though, and all this plus his involvement with Fields' hoods and with innocent five-and-dime store assistant Nellie means Danny finds his world closing in on him all ways round.
It Probes with the Heartbeat of Today's Youth!
Ronnie: Maybe we'll meet some place by accident.
Danny Fisher: Well, you tell me where you think the accident will take place and I'll make sure I'm there.

Co-star Walter Matthau said after the death of Elvis Presley this about him: ""He was an instinctive actor...He was quite bright...he was very intelligent...He was not a punk. He was very elegant, sedate, and refined, and sophisticated."
Personal favorite of Elvis Presley of his own movies.
James Dean was at one point in the running for the role that, several years later, would be played by Elvis Presley. At this stage, the film was to be a gritty urban drama. Following Dean's death and the casting of Elvis, it was retooled to suit the King.
Michael Curtiz thought Elvis Presley would become a wonderful actor.
Dolores Hart, who played Nellie, left Hollywood five years after making this movie to become a nun at a convent in Connecticut. When in 2012 a short, Oscar-nominated documentary was made about her life's unusual trajectory, it was named after a line she says in the documentary about why for her the appeal of a religious life trumped the glamour of her movie career: "God Is the Bigger Elvis."
Continuity
Character starts running twice because of editing mistake in the end of movie.
During Elvis's romantic boat ride with Dolores Hart both the moon and Elvis's position shift from shot to shot.
Throughout most of the scene near the end of the film, in which the injured Danny recovers consciousness in Ronnie's cabin, his slashed arm is seen to be tightly bandaged - presumably Ronnie's first-aid handiwork. However, in one shot, the bandages are hanging loosely from his arm.
Miscellaneous
When Elvis in on the sidewalk talking to Ronnie who's sitting in the car, and the camera is on Elvis, Ronnie is yards away from any windshield or dashboard of the car, yet when the camera is on Ronnie, she's inches away from the front of the car.
Audio/visual unsynchronized
In the beginning of the movie there is a scene where people on the street sing a song. In one part a woman is singing on the song, but the picture shows a male singer.
